House Minority Leader Congressman Danilo Suarez filed a motion to reprimand ACTS-OFW Representative Anecito “John” Bertiz III for his misbehavior at the screening line of the Ninoy Aquino Internation Airport (NAIA).
The incident which was caught on airport CCTV went viral on social media.
A total of 159 congressmen approved the motion; only one disapproval and three abstentions.
Bertiz said he accepts his colleagues’ decision as he again reiterated his apology.
He appealed to the public to spare his family from the controversy citing that his children are receiving lewd comments on social media.
“Tinawag silang prostitute; sinabihang igagang-rape, at kung ano-ano pang mga kahalayan na masyadong masakit nang banggitin pa…Ako ang parusahan ninyo. Huwag na po ang aking pamilya. Ang aking asawa at mga anak, wala po silang kinalaman dito,” Bertiz said. – Marje Pelayo (with reports from Grace Casin)
